Engaging in exercise or an activity can help us to reconnect to our bodies when our thoughts have been running away. We are able to shed trapped energy which could otherwise inhibit our ability to wind down.
Plan ahead and choose an activity that suits your requirements. How much energy do you need to exert, how long will the activity take, is it affordable, can you get to where the activity takes place and do you have the right equipment? If you are feeling socially isolated, could you find an activity that would help to tackle this too?
By preempting the stumbling blocks, when you find the right thing for you, you are more likely to feel as though you can commit to it, relax into it and gain the most amount of benefit from it.
